KITFO FILM FESTIVAL
KITFO FILM FESTVIAL
Our Vision
Our vision is to position the KITFO Film Festival as the premier global platform for Ethiopian and Eritrean cinema, nurturing the next generation of filmmakers and elevating stories from the Horn of Africa to international prominence. We aspire to cultivate a thriving ecosystem of creativity and collaboration, where diverse voices are celebrated, cultural heritage is preserved, and new perspectives are embraced. By championing authentic storytelling and fostering industry connections, we aim to inspire dialogue, innovation, and a deeper understanding of the region’s cultural and artistic contributions to the world.
The KITFO Film Festival is proud to feature visionary speakers who shape the future of Ethiopian and Eritrean storytelling, including Dr. Mehret Mandefro, an award-winning filmmaker and social justice advocate; Wondwossen Dikran, Tsedy Gebeyehu, Haweni Keskesse, Adul Nur and many others who enrich the festival with their insights and passion. Through their stories and expertise, these luminaries inspire collaboration, cultural pride, and the next generation of filmmakers, making KITFO a hub for creativity and meaningful dialogue.
KITFO Film Festival first launched September 2024 in Los Angeles, CA as a celebration of Ethiopian and Eritrean storytelling, culture, and heritage. As a bridge between the creative voices of the Horn of Africa and the global stage, our festival showcases films from emerging and established filmmakers across the region and diaspora.
With a commitment to fostering cultural exchange, we bring together artists, audiences, and industry professionals to honor the narratives that inspire, educate, and unite us. Anchored in Los Angeles and extending its impact to Ethiopia, the KITFO Film Festival is a platform for amplifying underrepresented voices and connecting diverse communities through the power of cinema.
